Payment Options at Clifton & Mauney

We strive to keep our treatments affordable, but even so, we ask our patients to remember that the fee for your initial appointment is due at the time of service, both for patients with dental insurance and those without coverage. If you do have insurance, our team will be happy to submit your insurance for payment to make the process as easy as possible. For all future visits, any applicable co-payment, deductibles, and fees that aren’t covered by your insurance are due when services are rendered. We are happy to accept payment in a variety of forms, including:

If someone other than a parent or guardian accompanies your child to his or her appointment, we ask that you make payment arrangements prior to the appointment.

Orthodontic & Extensive Pediatric Dental Treatments

For higher-cost treatment plans, we offer payment arrangements directly through our practice as well as third-party financing options through Lending Club. We will discuss any arrangements and fees before we begin any dental or orthodontic treatment.

Insurance Policy

As a courtesy to our patients with dental insurance benefits, we will electronically submit your claim directly to your insurance company and provide any necessary information to assist you in receiving your dental benefits. We require any applicable deductibles and estimated patient portion be paid at the time treatment is rendered.

We will accept assignment of insurance benefits as a form of payment to help reduce your immediate out-of-pocket expense for all companies that pay directly to the provider. If you have a direct reimbursement policy, such as BCBS of NC, payment in full is expected on the day of service. We will file your claim and your insurance company will reimburse you directly.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with your insurance benefits as every insurance provider sets up their own schedule regarding frequencies and limitations; procedures and fees they consider allowable; and the percentage of coverage based on deductibles, policy guidelines and usual and customary rates (UCR).

Regardless of your insurance coverage, please remember that you are still ultimately responsible for the cost of your treatment and you will need to cover any outstanding amount not covered by your insurance plan at the time of service. It is also your responsibility to contact your insurance company regarding any payment issues. We will issue statements every 30 days, whether insurance has been paid or not. We charge a $25 late fee for any account with a balance over 60 days.

To ensure we can continue providing affordable, convenient treatment, we ask that all of our patients:

  • Bring a current copy of your insurance card to each appointment.
  • Keep us informed of any changes to your insurance which includes changes in policyholder, policy name, number or address, or a change of employment.
  • Make payment in a timely manner of any balance remaining after your insurance has paid.

Pre-Treatment Authorization

Some insurance companies ask for an estimate of the services to be performed and the treatment fee before determining your insurance benefit. In these cases, we will electronically file an estimate to help you determine your portion of the costs to be incurred.

Medicaid/Health Choice Policies

As a part of our efforts to make treatment affordable to anyone, we are proud to accept new pediatric dental patients with North Carolina Medicaid or North Carolina Health Choice if the child is under the age of 5 or if they’re being referred by another dentist or physician. For existing patients who’ve been granted this insurance, we will gladly file with NC Medicaid or NC Health Choice. We require that patients with either of these bring a current card to each visit. If a current card is not presented upon arrival, we reserve the right to reschedule appointments.
