While the basketball season may be over, you can still go on a self-guided tour of the Dean Smith Center, home of the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. You’ll be able to bask in the historical greatness of a stadium featuring a men’s basketball program that has won five National Championships, made 19 Final Four appearances, and starred numerous future Hall-of-Famers. With credentials like that, there’s no doubt that North Carolina has reached, and stayed atop, the pinnacle of college basketball.

Take a Walk Down Franklin Street
Franklin Street is the center of social life when it comes to Chapel Hill. This popular thoroughfare is noted for its festivities, culture, and nightlife. It’s not uncommon to see victory celebrations on this street when North Carolina wins a big game. This street also features plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, bookshops, and much more. Whether you’re in search of a bite to eat or something fun to do, take a trip down Franklin Street and you’re sure to find what you’re looking for!
Visit the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center
The Morehead Planetarium is one of the oldest and largest planetariums in the entire United States. It features many different shows, exhibits, and also the Morehead Observatory for those who want to do some stargazing of their own. This center is also known for its historical purposes as well. From 1959 to 1975, essentially every famed astronaut came here to train in preparation of being sent into space. These names include legendary astronauts such as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. If you’re looking for a fun, yet educational, journey for the whole family, you can’t go wrong by visiting the Morehead Planetarium!
